In my quest to understand portraiture I always find Picasso fascinating. What was it that shaped him and the evolution of his style. Here is his ‘Portrait of Olga’ painted in 1920. A formidable portrait. Traditional in style.
And here, created in 1937, his painting ‘Weeping Woman’. I think the quotation above best explains what he himself was investigating.
